It was a very very cold day today. I couldn't figure out what to wear because my "casual Fridays" are usually my dress up days. I know I didn't want to wear anything that'll cover me up and I didn't want to wear a sweater.... so I was late to work. All in the name of Fashion. Ultimately I decided on my tights (my to go pants, per say) and something cute on top. I quickly realized that I also don't have enough tops so thus, we had a problem. I must have tried on at least 3 different outfits as my alarm clock keeps telling me to hurry it up.
Ultimately, I decided on this vintage top/dress with my amber sun sweater coat and these amazing wedges. I had to add some color so these shoes were perfect. I was going to grab a pink purse but you don't want to be too "matchy-matchy" so I just grabbed this beautiful vintage quilted bag with a gold embellishment chain. It was big enough for me to tuck in my Tory Burch flats and off I went... My necklace btw is a belt! Isn't it a huge statement piece? I love it! I added some vintage bangles and one of my neutral rings from Forever 21 and I was ready to go. As you can see, I don't focus too much on makeup during the week. I'm all about quick coverage, foundation, concealer, powder, bronzer, blush, highlighter, chapstick, lipstick and I'm good to go.
After I got in my car, I realized I was in such a hurry, I forgot my scarf! It was too late to return so I went w/o one today, which was alright. It was a crazy crazy day at work today (all week its been crazy) and believe it or not, this is my therapy. If you are reading this, know that I am very appreciative of your time. My good friend at work is still learning how to get the right angles so slowly but surely we will get better shots.
I hope your Friday was good and I wish you a wonderful weekend. My next post, I wanted to show you guys how to wear one dress 3 different ways for 3 different occasions so stay tuned! Its supposed to be a rainy weekend here in SoCal, so be safe and always think positive....

This was what I wore to work on Friday. We don’t have “casual fridays” at my work place because its casual day everyday… lol I’m basically behind my computer all day long so there’s really no reason to dress up. In addition to that, the printer is not close to my desk so I’m constantly walking back and forth all day long to get my printouts. Heels were never an option for me. I work in the Operations Dept of my company, therefore we never see any clients, thus why its casual day everyday.
Recently, I decided that I was going to start dressing up just because I wanted to look and feel better about myself. I usually just put on a little bit of makeup, hair up (with a plain clip) and I’m either in a simple “black” dress and some whatever flats. Nothing much to it. I throw on a “black” sweater and that’s my outfit. I didn’t own much of any color so I wore black almost, well everyday. I also didn’t own very many pairs of jeans or pants because at 4’11 that meant every pair had to be hemmed. I decided just to stick to dresses.
So as you can see, I am in pants. Believe me, my co workers were pretty shocked too. I also wore pearls to work for the first time. Although my favorite color is white, I never wore it because I was going through a phase where I just wasn’t happy with my body. I hid behind “black” clothes and that’s all I wore. Although there’s not much to this outfit, there’s so much more of a deeper meaning behind it then just the outfit itself.
To work: I wore pants (black khakis) for the first time (had them hemmed), I wore heels (platforms) for the first time, I wore a necklace (pearl statement piece) and most importantly, I wore WHITE! and to make it an even more surprising day, it was a Friday. No one expects someone to purposely dress up on a Friday. I work with mostly men so you can just imagine the surprise and attention I got that day. Everyone noticed of course and complimented me (which was great) but the one person who knew why I was always hiding behind “black” (Mark, pictured here with me) noticed me wearing white for the first time. He gave me a smile telling me that he was proud of me for “finally” trying a new color.. and not just any color, but white! I can tell, he was proud of me and so was I.
I’ve always struggled with my weight and it was just easier to wear black because it was ”slimming” right? Well, I always told myself that if I ever got to a place where I am confident enough, I’d wear white. Although it was just a tank top, I knew that I was feeling better about myself (More on this topic later). Slowly but surely, I knew that once I was able to wear nothing but white, I’ve made it. White has always been my favorite color but to be hiding behind black for so long, white became more then just a favorite color to me. It was the total opposite of black therefore, it became the color of confidence. I still own a lot of black pieces so I do incorporate them into my wardrobe as well but when I shop now, I no longer look at black pieces. I love that this season is all about colors because I am so excited to start experimenting and I truly look forward to the day I buy my first white dress!
